NM Collector for the Android!

This is the home page for the NM Collector Android applications.
Through the years many people have requested a mobile version of NM Collector Software.
Until now I have been unwilling to put the effort in to deliver on that
request because of the variation in mobile platforms. With Android
using Java I finally decided it was worth the effort to create a mobile
Collecting Software application for the Android.
The Android versions of NM
Collector have been available on Google Play since January of 2012. In April some versions were added
to the Amazon Android Market. One thing nice about the listings in the
Amazon Android Market is that you can test drive them for free through your
desktop computer browser! Just go to the Amazon Android Market NM Collector listings select one to try for free, and click the
"Test Drive Now" link to see how it works.
The intent of these applications is to work in conjunction with
the Desktop version of NM Collector Software which makes it easy
to input data. That data can then be easily transferred to your
mobile device to take with you and make minor adjustments (like
easily adding pictures) as necessary on the go and then
uploading the changes back to the desktop. Although the mobile
apps allow you to enter data from scratch, they are not meant to
be the primary means of data entry.
Suggested usage (Firearms example):
-
Export Firearms data from your desktop NM Collector Software using File > Export > to Android CSV.
-
Copy resulting AndroidNMGuns.csv file and related picture folders to your Android device. Start NmCollector on your Android device.
-
Import your firearms to your Android Device by clicking "Import from CSV" in the Android menu.
-
Make whatever changes you want. Add pictures.
-
Export your firearms from your Android device by clicking "Export to CSV" in the Android menu.
-
Copy resulting AndroidNMGuns.csv file and related picture folders to your desktop computer.
-
Import the updates into your desktop NM Collector Software firearms using File > Import > from Android CSV.
Note: NM Android Software is designed to
add to your collection by importing items so duplicates will
occur if you import the same items more than once. Therefore, if
you just want to update the data on your Android device with a
fresh version of the same data, you need to clear the data from
your android device before re-importing from your desktop. The
way you do that may vary by Android devices. The way I do it is
through “Manage apps” then select NM Guns and choose “Clear
data."
These applications are meant to be simple and straight forward to
use with only the features necessary to help collectors easily track
their items. They will be upgraded as features that add value are
requested.
